What is genital herpes?


Genital herpes, also known as pubic herpes, is a kind of sexual transmitted disease caused by invasion of herpes simples virus-HSV on genitals and dermal mucous membrane leading to pathogenic changes such as inflammation, blister, erosion, and ulcer etc. about 60% of patients reoccur after the subsidise of first skin damage. The genital herpes is the third most frequently occurring sexual transmitted diseases abroad following blennorrhagia and syphilis, and is the most frequently occurring sexual transmitted diseases caused by virus.

Human is the only natural host of herpes simples virus-HSV, 80%-90% of the population is infected with this virus, 10% of which shows no symptoms. Recently, the number of herpes simples virus infected people have world widely increased, especially in sexual active population, 30% of which used to suffer from genital herpes. The incidence of this disease is even higher than that of blennorrhagia especially among young people.
