| Diplococcus gonorrhoeae was separated by Neisser in 1879, so also known as neisseria gonorrhoeae. It is kidney shaped, and pertains to Gram negative diplococcus, generally existing in pairs inside or outside the cytoplasm of pus cells.
Blennorrhagia is a kind of acute or chronic contact infectious disease caused by diplococcus gonorrhoeae, mainly resulting in inflammation of mucous membrane on urinary and genital organs which pertains to one of the sexual transmitted diseases. Since it began to use penicillin G to treat blennorrhagia in 1944, the incidence used to decrease a lot, however, it increased again since 60s. |
